Practicing For Disaster

Chris and I just moved to the wrong side of the railroad tracks.  When the oil trains speed by at top speeds, blasting warning whistles, we feel like the train is coming right through our condo.  Because of the feeling that we need to be prepared for a train disaster or any other disaster like climate change, ISIS, and or lawlessness, we decided to set aside clothes and our medications in a "ready" bag to grab just in case a calamity occurs.  Here is how Lucy and all practiced for a crisis resulting from Lucy's unpredictable birth pangs:

In another funny movie,  "Father's little Dividend," the grandparents to be, jumped into action when they thought the baby was coming.  The scene showing the future grandmother driving to the hospital had me rolling on the floor.  Although having a baby in a hospital doesn't usually come as a surprise, the timing of a baby's birth can be without warning.

Here's why these movies are so funny-- because, even if we prepare for emergencies, our emotions take over, and we can't think clearly.  That's when we need to remember the first thing to do in case of catastrophe is to pray a short "help" prayer.  With prayer, practice, and preparedness, we can learn to be composed and in control in case of adversity.

The Loud Silence

I praise the Lord for Senator Lankford.  In the 9 minute video above he appeals to human decency for the protection of the unborn.  Many "Christians" have supported abortion because they feel people should not be saddled with an unwanted child.   Finally, after the release of the barbaric practices of Planned Parenthood shown on an undercover video tape this week, maybe this evil organization will be defunded by the U.S. Government.  We can hope and pray that it is a breakthrough for many deceived people even in the Church. The deafening silence of many in the Church will finally be revealed. I hope those who have been mislead will be turned from denial and speak up for the defenseless.

Anti- Israel Sentiment And How It Grows

Jim Fletcher http://www.prophecymattersisrael.com/ was interviewed today on the radio program “Understanding the Times,” http://www.olivetreeviews.org/.  Fletcher reported on the “Justice Conference” held recently in Chicago where 18- to 34 year olds were targeted.  The main speaker at the conference was Cornel West.  David Horowitz wrote a long article in 2010 revealing that Cornel West pushes Marxism. West was or is an advisor to President Obama.

The second guest on the same program was Laurie Cardoza-Moore, ThD. She is a successful leader, businesswoman, wife, mother of five, and founder and President of Proclaiming Justice to The Nations. She has devoted her life to educate Christians about their Biblical responsibility to stand with their Jewish brethren and the State of Israel. (She has studied the Bible with Community Bible Study for many years.) In 2011, as a result of Laurie’s relentless efforts to defend Israel in the global media, Dr. John Lupoli, President of the World Council of Independent Christian Churches (WCICC) took note of Laurie’s ability to communicate this important message globally and invited Laurie to serve as the WCICC’s Special Envoy at the United Nations to bring this message to the global leaders at the UN. During the “Understanding the Times” interview Moore revealed that Pearson Publishers, owned by Prentice Hall, published “The Cultural Landscape: An Introduction to Human Geography.”  They hired a Muslim, a member of the Council on Islamic Education, to edit the book.

Because of my chronic pain from fibromyalgia, I spend a large amount of my time resting.  Being from the “entertainment generation” or maybe it’s just me; I like to occupy myself by watching old movies, listening to my favorite music, or being encouraged by inspirational sermons, devotionals, or worthy of note facts.  Here is a list of the podcasts I listen to.  I subscribe to them through I Tunes or oneplace.com.

I grew up in the D.C. area so it is interesting to me to hear references to “The Hill” and what is going on in politics in regard to the Christian life.

Absolutes

Absolutes do exist.  God has given us absolutes in the 10 Commandments. The world is under God. We know that God exists through His creation.  Man is without excuse. 

Next, these 10 Commandments are on what the laws in the United States are based. The world has lived by them when they have been made known, and people have chosen to be obedient to God.

Now the current struggle in our society has to do with all of the commandments, but the 5^th Commandment is extremely grievous because of what the Supreme Court has forced on our society.  The 5^th Commandment says that we are to honor our father and mother.  How then can a child living with 2 mothers or 2 fathers honor this Commandment? We must think about the children—each child needs a mother and a father.  It is a basis for the stability of society.  This is how God has designed the family and marriage.

We must admit that at present we don’t live in Roman times as some have claimed.  Many say that Christians can have no influence in society.  But we do live in a time, which enables Christians to have a voice in the public square.  We can pray, vote for, speak, write, and teach good things.  Keeping God’s laws will make life easier and more peaceful.  We have enough trials and tribulations in this life without making life harder by rebelling against God.

Unfortunately, I think that with the Supreme Court’s ruling on homosexual marriage, God has kindly given the U.S. over to the Devil so that the sinful nature will be destroyed--- I Corinthians 5:5.  I hope it is a good thing, as the government will have to get out of the churches and all Christian ministries.  Christians will have to pledge their lives and treasure to standing for God’s laws.  I expect to see more Christians going to prison in this country in my lifetime. 

I pray that Christians will tell the truth to society in love, and hold some back from destruction.  Jude 1:23.
