FEBRUARY BIRTHDAY

Samantha with her mom on her first birthday

We have several February birthdays in our family. Today we will celebrate our oldest granddaughter's eighteenth birthday.  She learned today that she was accepted to the college of her choice and will receive a scholarship. We are proud and happy grandparents.

Sammy was very grown up from the time she was one year old.  Notice how she is checking out the clothing she received for her first birthday.  I thought she looked very discerning even at that young age.  She is years ahead of where I was in high school.  She even cuts her own hair now.  I cut my own hair when I was in college.

As she goes this fall to her new adventure I pray that she will obey God and not man; (Exodus 1:17 "But the midwives feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but let the male children live." I pray she will let the boys live. Just joking.)

Today there are revivals happening on several college campuses.  If you would like to learn more about revivals check out "A God sized Vision: Revival Stories That Stretch and Stir" by Colin Hanson and John Woodbridge.

May God protect all our precious college kids.

Matthew 18:10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.

I COULDN'T THINK OF A TITLE FUNNIER THAN THIS PICTURE

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

I just had to post this picture of our friends Carmen and Jim from years ago.  I know you needed a laugh today.

Proverbs 17:22 A cheerful heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit makes one sick.

A NAP AND A SNACK

Watercolor from a fibromyalgia calendar.

When life gets tough I say with our daughter, Heather, take a nap and get a snack.  Elijah did this in I Kings 19:7--

And the angel of the Lord came again a second time and touched him and said, “Arise and eat, for the journey is too great for you.”

Also-- going through life is better with friends. In the above painting I picture myself in my old age with my friends.  I giggle at the shirtwaists and white purses.  We might even dress like our grandmothers.   Those are happy and fond thoughts for me. Elijah was not alone either. God informed Elijah that there were 7000 others who were in agreement with him--

l Kings 19:18 Yet I will leave seven thousand in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.”

From this scripture we know that God cares about what we are going through.  We are not alone. We can cast every care on Him.

I Peter 5: 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
