Our granddaughter, Samantha, stuck her toe into politics at school. She ran for the School Spirit Coordinator. We are very proud. One time I ran for neighborhood caucus chair and was elected. I had to resign right away because I refused to go to any of the meetings. I had a neighborhood meeting at our house and handed off the caucus chair. That was the end of my effort.
I believe some Christians are called into politics. According to Matthew 5:13-16 we are supposed to be salt and light. One man who followed God's call into politics was William Wilberforce. Here is a podcast on his background.
C.S. Lewis was influential in politics through his "Screwtape Letters,"a book which showed that politics can be a point of temptation. Lewis saw to the heart of a philosophical mistake that would gradually unmake our civilization; in speeches, books, and essays he argued that if you debunk the idea of God, then the government will one day become your God.

One way for a Christian to do what is good is to tell the truth in love. How do we know the truth? The Bible tells us the truth.
