A few minutes for Dad to catch up on the news
I never thought I’d be a news junky. All the time I was growing up my dad read newspapers and watched news reports on TV. I was never interested in current events until when, back in 1990, Dr. James Dobson, on a Focus on the Family radio program, said that Christians should be interested in our government. Here’s why—
In I Timothy 2 the Bible says 1:”First
of all, then I urge that entireties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings,
be made on behalf of all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that
we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”
In addition to prayer, the Bible says in
Ephesians 2: 10 “For we
are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God
prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
So, if we are aware of what is going on in
our country, and if we pray, God may have some good works that He has prepared
for us to do for Him and our country. One good work we can easily do is to
vote.
Because of media bias there is a need to be
informed about alternative views to the broadcast TV stations. I listen to
independent podcasts produced by different organizations. I have listed podcasts to which I
subscribe. If you would like to
subscribe or listen to any of these go to I Tunes, or oneplace.com. Click on the link to open.
